Staff Instructional Day
The professional day for teachers will begin at 8:30 AM and end when professional responsibilities are completed after the student school day has ended. Counselors are available from 8:30 AM in the morning until 4:00 PM Mon-Fri. Media specialists will have the media center open for students from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM and will be open for the faculty at 8:00 AM and after school from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM.
If you must leave campus during the workday or prior to the end of the workday, due to an emergency, see your designated administrator and email the principal and administrator to document your absence from campus.

All staff members are to sign in upon arrival at school in the morning. Staff should sign in by scanning their pass at any fob door. All staff members must arrive by 8:30 AM. If you have a morning duty station, please be there by 8:30 AM. All teachers with a first period should be prepared to accept students at 8:50 AM.

Staff Parking
All staff members are to park in the teacher lot by the football field or in a numbered spot behind the building. No cars should be parked curbside at the side entrance of the school. Other than assigned parking spaces, all parking is first come/first serve. Cars are not to be parked anywhere else on campus.
* If you park behind the ROTC hanger, you must be parked by 7:00 am or enter after 8:30 am in order to keep the environment safe for the Drill Team.

We will have monthly meetings primarily in the mornings before school on the designated day. Please see the schedule below. All appropriate staff members are required to attend these meetings, and should schedule around them.

- 1st Wednesday of the month: Faculty meeting
- 9/4, 2/5 and 5/6 are 7:30am Morning Meetings. All other faculty meeting will be held during your planning period.
- 2nd Wednesday of the month: Department Chair Meeting
- 3rd Week of the month: Departmental Meetings
- 4th Wednesday of the month: School Improvement Team meeting
- Every Friday: MTSS/Data Team meeting
- 2nd Tuesday of the month: Mentor/Mentee meeting

School Events
Staff members are expected to attend as many activities sponsored by the school as they can manage. These include PTA meetings, as well as special productions, or athletic events. Specific events will require the attendance of everyone. Teachers who are unable to attend a required event should notify the principal or designated administrator prior to the event.

In order to maintain student safety, each staff member will be assigned to a lunch and planning duty station. It is the expectation that you show up promptly and be attentive while on duty. If you are not able to make it to your duty station, it is your responsibility to arrange coverage from another staff member. Duty responsibilities are to be included in substitute plans. Please notify Mr. Carlson, or an available administrator, if an issue shall occur.

There are two (2) faculty workrooms (Hall C Upstairs and Hall G Downstairs) available for faculty. There are refrigerators and telephones in all of the workrooms and the lounge. There are also vending machines located in the upstairs faculty lounge.
Do not allow students to use the workrooms or lounge facilities for any reason, and do not send students to the workrooms or the lounge to run errands, make copies, pick up mail, or make purchases for you.

Copier Guidelines and Services
Riverside has copiers are loacted throughout the building. Teachers are expected to abide by all United States copyright laws (Title 17, United States Code), which governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. For more information about copyright laws, please consult with our media center.
Any problems with copiers must be reported to Ms. Hamlett immediately.

SMART LUNCH
- Smart Lunch is a lunch period where the entire school goes to lunch at one time for one hour.
- It is broken into two 30-minute periods (A&B).
- Students can spend their time eating, attending tutorials with teachers, working on homework, meeting with support staff, or attending club meetings.
- Students are responsible for keeping trash picked up.
- Students are responsible for attending tutorials when they are required.
- All staff is responsible for the active supervision of students.
- Lunch will be provided in in the cafeteria, concession stand area, near elevator, windows between A/B and C/D.

Students who are out of class are required to have: a wooden/plexi bathroom pass or a signed written pass. The plexi pass is only for the closest restroom and water fountain. Teachers must complete a written pass for any student going anywhere other than the restroom. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST, AND IS A NON-NEGOTIABLE. Only one student should be allowed out of class at a time.

The RHS Faculty Handbook, the DPS Employee Handbook, and the DPS Parent/Student Handbook include important policies and procedures. It is important to become familiar with the information in each handbook. The faculty handbook is online for easy access. Students should review the student handbook in class and be made aware of all of the school rules by the end of the second day of school.

Teachers will be issued a fob, a key for their classroom door, and teacher workrooms. Recycling
DPS has a recycling contract with Riverside High School. Paper, newspaper, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles may be recycled in the appropriate bins throughout the building.

Students are expected to bring their own pencils, paper, and pens. Limited construction paper and poster board are available for in-class assignments. For homework projects, students need to obtain their own poster board or construction paper. Supplies are requisitioned through Denise Hamlett. If you need supplies, then please email Ms. Hamlett. Supplies will be placed in the mailbox or the classroom as soon as possible.

- Depending on the severity of the accident it is important to communicate with administrators, SRO's, and the athletic trainer as needed.
